SURVEY INVITATION: The ESA and CAWS will be holding a Weed Research Forum at the 18th Australasian Weeds Conference in October...
As you may have heard, the Ecological Society of Australia (ESA) Invasive Species Research Chapter and Council of Australasian Weed Societies (CAWS) are teaming up to hold a Weed Research Forum at the upcoming 18th Australian Weeds Conference in Melbourne. The forum will be a dedicated 1.5 hour session on the afternoon of Monday 8 October, entitled “Ecology of invasive species management: Bridging the gap between research and practice".The fundamental aims of the forum will be to discuss the research needs of invasive plant managers, especially as related to improving biodiversity conservation outcomes, and to improve dialogue and opportunity for collaboration between ecological weed researchers and weed managers.
We intend to run the forum in a very interactive manner, using a panel approach similar to that of the popular “Q and A” television program. The panel will consist of several of Australia's leading weed researchers and managers. To drive forum discussion, we would like to invite you to lodge comments and/or questions related to the forum theme using the survey link below. We have designed the forum around the basic stages of the "biosecurity management continuum management continuum": prevention, eradication, containment, asset protection, and cross-continuum topics, such as social research.
Based on surveys completed so far, we anticipate that this will take less than 5 minutes of your time to complete. We would appreciate if surveys could be completed and submitted to us by no later than Thursday 6th September.
